A Week in the Life of a PCV: That’s a Wrap!

Wow! I made it through a week of daily blogging—my utmost respect goes out to people who make that look effortless!  This week wraps up just as I’m celebrating eight months here in Belize.  What?! Yeah, eight months! I can no longer say two years when people ask me how much longer I will be here!  I really only have 19 months left in the village, which makes me a little bit nervous when I think of some of the bigger projects I have in mind that are still in their infancy.   Well, it’s only motivation to work a little harder on getting those things up and running.

I enjoyed being able to go a little more in-depth in these posts.  It’s kind of like writing in a diary.  Here, I’m allowed to add analysis and perspective that would just be a little weird if I threw it into everyday conversations.  Blogging is an activity that allows me to self-evaluate and indulge in a little introspection.  It also allows me to take some quiet time during busy days, which is always welcome and sometimes absolutely mandatory.

Ironically, I wrote nearly 4000 words this week for pleasure.  In college, in the height of term papers and lab reports, I would have laughed at you if you told me one day I’d be writing for fun.  Even more ironically, I got an email from the Peace Corps staff yesterday, asking me to please consider doing a weeklong special on my blog in honor of Peace Corps Week, March 1-7.  Huh.  I guess I timed that incorrectly.  I may end up participating in some capacity.  I do have some ideas for the blog, but they won’t likely be text posts.  So, be on the lookout for some Peace-Corps-themed fun next week!  As always, thanks for reading!

Love always,
Jess
